| Overview | Native, chicken egg white lysozyme. Hydrolyzes β1,4 linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid (2-acetamido-2-deoxy-3-O-[1carboxymethyl]-glucopyranose) and N-acetyl-glucosamine residues in chitin. Also hydrolyzes β1,4 linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-glucosamine residues in peptidoglycans. Inhibits the biological activity of lipopolysaccharides from periodontopathic bacteria. |
